XM is Sirius

Well, you may have heard already. XM will be merging with Sirius. As a current XM subscriber, I hope the merger will not create a monopoly that jacks up the prices simply because it can. According to the XM's website, "We will not raise the cost of your current XM subscription cost. We plan to add lower-tiers of pricing, and premium packages of service as we expand our programming, but your current package will stay the same." Does this mean that it will cost extra to get the new Sirius channels? Does this mean that we will be indirectly "forced" to pay more for premium packages? We'll see. I hope the merger will simply provide all current subscribers, both XM and Sirius, with even greater varieties without commercials. I look forward to have access to NFL and Howard Stern.

This merger is certainly a great news for those car owners who only had built-in Sirius or XM radios. They will soon be able to access both without having to add on any additional equipment. In the short term, I think this is good news for all.
