Business Week reports, "A new three-volume book, Phaidon Design Classics, features 999 examples of everyday things that embody the winning combination of elegant form and ease of use."

The above image is one of the design examples from the book. Everyone from all over world can instantly recognize that the bottles are used to hold soy sauce. Every Asian restaurant places these bottles on the tables. I personally have one in my kitchen for cooking and mixing dipping sauce. Did you know that these bottles were designed back in 1960 by Kenji Ekuan of GK Design Group? Kikkoman has been using the same bottle design since 1961. When a design is a classic, it will last forever from one generation to the next.

Other classic designs include the Anglepoise (spring arm lamp), Metropolitan Police Whistle, and the new iPods. Check out the Business Week's slide show to get a glimpse or visit Phaidon's web site.
