Table Tennis

Man, I was hoping that NBC would do a better Olympics coverage on table tennis. It would be incredible to see the super players hit that small white bouncing ball at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. After doing a little search, I found out that most of the table tennis coverage will be broadcasted on the Bravo channel at odd hours. I guess it is just not that popular in the U.S. Maybe and hopefully one day table tennis will get the coverage that it deserves.

Did you know that table tennis is world's largest participated sport? There are over 40 million competitive players around the world with millions more playing recreationally. The insanely fast speed played at the Olympic level can definitely be intense and entertaining. World-class players can put up to 9000rpm of spin on table tennis balls. With 100mph slams and 9000rpm of spins, this sport deserves at least a couple of nights of prime time showing. Personally, I prefer to watch table tennis over trampoline which they showed during prime time last night. If you have never seen table tennis played at the competitive level, I invite you to at least check it out once. If you cannot catch it due to the weird scheduling, maybe you can set up your VCR or TiVo to record one or two matches.
