Dream Team

The U.S. Dream Team lost to Argentina 81 to 89 which leaves U.S. with only the chance of getting a bronze metal at the Olympics this year. I doubt U.S. will even finish with a bronze metal judging by the way they play or rather are NOT playing together. This is pretty damn pathetic if you asked me. The U.S. team is filled with professional atheletes who get paid millions of dollars. Let's take Allen Iverson for example, Iverson will receive $13.5 millions per year in the next six years for a total of $90.2 millions. Here's is the salary database on Iverson on USAToday.com. And Tim Duncan, who fouled out in the game, will receive an annual salary of $12.7 millions in the next 7 years for a staggering total of $122 millions. Either Duncan or Iverson makes more money per year than the entire team of Argentina will earn in a life time. So why is the NBA paying insane amounts of money to players who cannot even bring home a gold metal? C'mon now, does Iverson or Duncan really deserve all that money? Duncan cannot even keep himself together to play the full game. There are better ways to spend $122 million dollars like getting me a new computer and house.

Personally, I don't even really like basketball. I think it is ridiculous how much money atheletes earn--can we even call that "earning"? I guess the idea is this: Dream Team cannot win a gold metal but they sure can afford to get their own BLINGS BLINGS. Iverson and Duncan might seem upset and disappointed in Athens right now. I assure you that they will be smiling ear to ear as soon as they get back to their mansions with plasma screens in every room, swimming in their pools with cascading waterfalls, and driving one of their 100 pimping rides parked in the heated tiled floor garages.

At least it was great to see the Argentinians play the sport with hearts and souls instead of greens and SUVs with 24" spinners.
