Chinese Google is Evil

Google has made an agreement with the Chinese government to provide filtered search results to the people living in People's Republic of China. Google's decision has been ill received by all in the free world. And I agree. Google is no longer a company that promised "to do no evil". How disappointing! Google responds to providing filtered search results in China with "Failing to offer Google search at all to a fifth of the world's population, however, does so far more severely." So Google thinks that providing biased information is better than providing nothing? Misleading information is better than no information?

telendro.com.es has a good comparison between the two Google search results (Google versus China's Google) using the key word "tiananmen square". From the normal Google web site, the user sees images of protesting students. However, Chinese Google does not provide any information about the protesting students against the government. And according to Google, this is okay because "Failing to offer Google search at all to a fifth of the world's population, however, does so far more severely." In Google's world, it is better to tell a lie than not to tell at all.

And here is another site with search result comparisons listing sites Google agreed to censor in China.
