Burglary

Section: Tidbits

Someone broke into our garage last night. They knocked down walls from neighboring garages to get to ours. They entered the unlocked unit 1 and made a hole in the back wall to enter unit 2 (shown in picture). From unit 2, they worked their way to our garage by prying the weak wooden wall. The idiots did not even bother to check that unit 2 was not locked! And they also "broke" into another UNLOCKED garage (on the right side) through the side wall of unit 1.

They stole my 12 year old Specialized Stumpjumper M2 mountain bike but left the snowboard, skis, and ski rack. The rest of our items in the garage were mostly empty boxes for our electronics and such. The felons actually took their time looking through each of the empty boxes for any valuables. I think they did also take one of our old cordless phones and a couple of our retired useless cell phones.

Well, I am actually quite upset about losing my 12 year old mountain bike which I purchased the first year I went to college. The Stumpjumper has been with me to all sorts of places and even moved with me from Virginia to California. The sentimental value is priceless. I doubt the burglars can get more than $200 for the old thing.

Sigh... Although not much was taken from our garage in terms of value, we felt violated. Unfortunately we think this was done by teens who would eventually grow up to be nuisances of society. How can anyone perform these acts and feel great about themselves? How can they feel no guilt?
