Cory Doctorow from BoingBoing.net writes, "The Beastie Boys' new CD, To the Five Boroughs, has DRM on it that prevents you from ripping it or making a copy for your car. I got the MP3s last week -- it's a great album -- and was going to buy the CD while I'm in the US this week, but now I think I'll just erase the MP3s and not bother. If the Beasties wanna treat me like a crook, I don't want to be their customer."
I cannot believe the Beastie Boys would do this. I have always been a Beastie Boys fan but now that they have decided to play the role of Big Brother amazes me. What is the motivation behind Beastie Boys' decision to take the role of big record companies whom they denounced all these years? Of course, it's MONEY. Yeah, this just shows that Beastie Boys has finally sold out. They are no different than big record comany executives. This is very sad. I was planning to buy the new Beastie Boys record. But what's the point if I cannot convert music I rightfully own into a format I wish to use.
