Anthony Bourdain is one of the best travel guides. He has a TV show, No Reservations, on the Travel Channel. Bourdain takes the roads that few tourists or none has ventured. Anthony is a different type of travel show host. He is sarcastic and funny. Some of his quotes...
"Now don't get me wrong. I'm all for spiritual enlightenment. But I draw the line at ramming a spike through my cheek."
"As with many Asian cultures, to the Vietnamese, loud slurping of noodles is not rude at all. In fact, it's a sign you're enjoying your meal, and I can slurp with the best of them."
"Iceland, middle of winter. It's dark here. Try to ignore it. It doesn't go away."
Like a true "journeyman chef", Bourdain tastes and eats anything to experience and absorb local flavors from various cultures and people. When I say that he eats anything, he really will try anything. On his show, No Reservations, he has gobbled down all parts of pigs, cows, and chicken to fresh raw seal eye balls and beating cobra hearts!
If you like to see the real world, check out No Reservations on the Travel Channel. The world through the eyes of Anthony Bourdain is tasty, strange, and truly astonishing.
