AMEX Rules, Freestyle Sucks

I love American Exress. The company's customer service is outstanding. A month ago, I purchased a Yakima Cargo Box from Freestyle of Charlottesville. After taking the cargo box home, I discovered that my old school long pair of skis did not fit within the box. Since the box did not serve my needs to carry my skiis, I returned the cargo box to Freestyle of Charlottesville the very next day. When I returned the item, the manager at the time, Matt Barber, claimed that the box was "used" and demanded to charge me a $100 + 5% Tax to restock. I paid $462 for the box on November 11 and he only refunded me $357 on my American Express card. I could not believe it. I tried talking to Matt Barber explaining to him that I have been a long time customer of Freestyle and just recently purchased a full rack system from the store. He said, "that's great, but I cannot help you." And then he did something unthinkable...he snickered at my request for the full refund. Mr. Matt Barber is one of the most unprofessional "manager" I have ever met. Needless to say, I was frustrated and felt that I had been ripped off by a store I trusted for so many years.

To fight back, I filed a complaint against Freestyle with Better Business Bureau and called American Express to dispute the $105 charge on my credit card. The customer representative of American Express was very helpful and understanding. He immediately issued me a credit of $105 and launched an investigation on Freestyle in regards to the fraudulent charge and bad business practice. I felt relieved.

I hope the owners of Freestyle will soon hear about Matt Barber's conducts from Better Business Bureau and fire him immediately. I will never buy anything from Freestyle. I strongly discourage anyone from even visiting Freestyle of Charlottesville unless you want to get ripped off.
If I had paid for the item with cash or check, I will never again see a penny of the $105 that Freestyle stole from me. I am so happy that I do use my American Express card for almost anything I purchase. When a company decides to rip you off, American Express is there to back you up 100%. Thank you American Express!
