Tech Buzz
The highly anticipated IPO of Google is starting to take shape. The buzz began earlier this year. Although many thought the IPO was going to take place before the second half of this year, Google decided to take the path in making its employees and founders "Googllionaires" more cautiously. Recent filings with the SEC reveals why Google's IPO is going to be, as predicted, a wild one. We have not seen an IPO like this since the stock market bubble burst in the late 90s. Google's IPO will not only match but will top the exciting market times in the mid 90s when Yahoo and other tech companies made many investors instant millionaires.
According to the SEC filing, Google will be issuing 24.6 million shares at a price range between $108 and $135 per share. A quick calculation shows that Google plans to raise somewhere between $2.66 billions and $3.32 billions of dollars. This will place Google's IPO as one of the largest ever!
With a total of 268.5 millions of share outstanding, a $135 per share stock will immediately give Google a market capitalization of $36.25 billion dollars. Yes, Google will immediately be filled with "Googllionaires" working at its headquarters. The parking lot will transform overnight into an exotic car show with BMWs, Mercedez, Lexus, Porsches, and, for the founders and first 20 employees or so, Ferraris.
So keep your eye on Google, this is going to be an exiciting event. Even if you have no interest in this financial mumble jumble, trust me, Google will soon be popping up everywhere from morning news to evening talk shows. Like it or not, "Googlemania" is brewing and will be taking over the airwaves everywhere.
