CNET reports, "Yonah, a dual-core notebook chip based on a new design, will be released in January, said Keith Kresslin, director of mobile platforms marketing at Intel. It is expected to provide around 68 percent better performance than current Intel notebook chips, which sport one processing core. Computers with Yonah will also be better than PCs today at running many applications at once, he said."
This is very cool. Smaller and more powerful laptops that can last a long time on a single charge. I am looking forward to the coming of Yonah. Most of the laptops today, although mobile, are still chained to a power socket in airports, cafes, libraries, and etc. With Yonah, next generation laptops are less power hungry. Yonah may be the chip that will truly provide us the freedom we seek from using laptops.
