I took my Specialized Sirrus with its new Michelin Cyclocross Mud2 tires to Sullivan Fire Road in Topanga State Park. The new tires are awesome. My road bike can now zip through the fire roads almost like a mountain bike. However, without any suspensions, the ride can be a little bumpy at times. And I probably will not dare to take the Sirrus on any single tracks. With that said, the Michelin Cyclocross Mud2 tires are great for the type of riding I do which consists of 75% pavement and 25% fire roads.
On pavement, Michelin Cyclocross Mud2 tires are not as efficient as traditional road tires due to its tiny knobs, but the ride is still much faster than traditional mountain bike tires. Overall, I highly recommend Michelin Cyclocross Mud2 tires for anyone who rides mostly on pavement and tackles the fire roads from time to time for some additional rush.
