Touching the Void is a documentry film about two climbers' journey going up the west face of Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in 1985. The two climbers, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, were the first to reach the top of the 21,000 foot peak via the west side. After reaching the top, an accident forced Simon to cut the safety rope sending Joe falling to his doom. Miraculously, Joe survived the fall and managed to crawl, roll, and fall all the way back down to base camp with a broken leg and without food nor water for several days.
This is a film about the survival of Joe Simpson. It combines interviews and reenactments to tell the tale of their incredible journey. It is very interesting to see how the men retells the story after having to deal with what happened for almost 20 years. This is truly an inpiring story.
