This year Acura adds a new model to its fleet, the TSX. It is powered by a 200 horsepower inline 4 cylinder 2.4 liter engine. This model fills the gap between the RSX and the TL. The TSX exterior styling resembles the TL with subtle differences in the front and sides. Personally, I like the look of the TSX better than the TL. The look is more conservative than the Lexus' IS300 but still very sporty.
The rear was well designed. I especially like the dual exaust pipes.
The interior styling is my favorite. It screams ergonomic and luxury. The model my friend and I tested is fully loaded with navigation. The seats were covered with quality perforated leather. The brushed aluminum trim adds a nice highlight to the interior without being too flashy or cheap looking. Every component from the change tray to power window buttons are made with quality plastic. The interior yields a ton of leg and head room for both front and rear passengers.
The navigation unit, climate control, and radio can all be controlled via voice. When you command the car to do something, it will actually talk back to you repeating your wishes. I was very impressed!
The drive is quiet and comfortable. The 4 cylinder engine is surprisingly powerful and smooth. Like most Hondas and Acuras, this is a front wheel drive car.
The most amazing and attractive feature of this car is the price. The fully loaded TSX with navigation tops out right under $30,000. This makes it a very strong competitor against the Lexus IS300, low end BMW 3 series, and Mercedes C-class. When you price BMW and Mercedes with all the features to match the TSX (such as HID, navigation, heated seats, leather, and etc), you will have to pay an additional $4,000 or more!
You definitely get your money's worth with the TSX. No, it does not accelerate as fast from 0-60 as the competing luxury brand models, but who cares? Most drivers are not auditioning for the next Fast and Furious. The bottom line is TSX provides the luxury without the hefty price. I love it! I give it a 8.9 out of 10. Great job Acura. keep up the good work!
