After setting up Time Warner's RoadRunner, I started to experience connection problems. The connection will hang periodically causing pages to time out and my XBox Live connection to drop. I would have to reset the modem by rebooting it to restore my Internet access. After messing with my router configurations and conducting some research, I determined that the problem was caused by unreliable RoadRunner DNS addresses. I decided to use free DNS servers from OpenDNS by manually setting up my router to DNS servers at 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. After pointing my router to OpenDNS, my connection started to work flawlessly. It is awesome. RoadRunner does provide a very fast access to the Internet in combination with OpenDNS. My download speed is at 5.7 Mb/s and the upload speed is at 440 Kb/s. If you are experiencing problems with your ISP or if you simply want to use better DNS servers, set up your connection to use OpenDNS as its DNS servers.
