I used to judge / rate movies by comparing the movie in question with some of my favorites and least favorites. Then I will give it a number out of 10 depending on how close the movie compares to my favorites and least favorites. Or I would just recommend the movie as Theater Worthy, Rental Worthy, HBO Worthy, or Unworthy. No, these old systems were not very accurate nor systematic. When I created a new Movies category for this site, I decided to come up with a standard system to rate movies. I use a 10 point system divided into 5 categories. Each category is worth up to 2 points. The five categories are Replay Value, Story, Cinematography, Acting, Entertainment Value. This system is much easier for me to rate a movie quickly with consistency. There you have it, my movie rating system.
