Yakima Rack System

The Thule Rack System does not accomodate vehicles without rain gutters. I owned a Thule Rack System for years which fitted on all my cars until the Lexus SportCross. After getting rid of the Thule Rack, I purchased a Yakima Rack System to transport my gear. The rack system parts for my car are similar to the IS300 Sedan specifications with the exception of the rear bar clips (Q31). The required parts inlcude the following:

1 set of 48" Cross Bars (2 bars) 1 set of Q Towers (4 Towers) 1 pair of Q 111 Clips (for front bar) 1 pair of Q 31 Clips (for rear bar)

I also added other accessories such as the 44" Fairing, Copperhead bike rack, and a set of SKS one key lock system to secure the rack and accessories. I tried out the Platinum Pro 16s Box, but it did not fit my long pair of skis. I returned the box and will be getting a set of ski rack instead. Unfortunately, the Platinum Pro 16s Box is the only one that fits my car due to my hatch.

The Yakima rack system is very easy to install. The initial installation took 2.5 hours to complete. The steps that took the longest were ensuring the correct span between Q Towers, the span between the two bars, and proper positioning of the Q Towers on the car. Once the rack has been set up to fit the car, it can be removed and re-attached very quickly. Add-on equipment can also be installed within minutes. It is a very well built and designed system.
