I desperately needed a higher resolution monitor to better handle applications such as Photoshop and Dreamweaver that have a ton of control panels. My previous Samsung was also a HD-TV so its maximum resolution was 1366 by 768. The width was fine but the height was limiting. Well, that is my excuse.
To increase productivity, I added a Samsung 226BW with 1680 by 1050 resolution. It is a 22" screen with 3000:1 contrast ratio. The screen is bright and crisp. I am very happy with Samsung displays so far.
The addition of this monitor enables me to have a tri-screen set up which I have long wanted for years. Although the three monitors are different sizes (22", 20", 15"), it still feels pretty wild. And yes, I feel more productive if you have to ask. Maybe in a few years, I will be crazy enough to set up three 30" screens.
