We recently purchased a Magellan Maestro 3140 GPS for $189 including shipping and tax. When the unit was first released in 2007, it was selling for as much as $399. Today, a year later, if you look hard enough, you may find a 3140 selling for as low as $149 plus tax. Unfortunately, I have already ordered mine when I found the better deal. With that said, I am still happy about my purchase for a nice and capable GPS for under $200. The Magellan Maestro 3140 GPS has text-to-speech which is one of the main features I wanted in a GPS. The text-to-speech feature announces the actual street names, highways, and exit names for each maneuver. My previous GPS did not have text-to-speech so the instructions sounded a little confusing especially in downtown areas.
The Magellan Maestro 3140 GPS was easy to install using the included windshield mount. The unit also comes with an USB cable and a car charger. Unfortunately, the unit does not come with an AC adapter. I ended up purchasing one of those universal DC to AC adapters. I was able to update the firmware via Magellan's web site with ease. I am hoping to update the map soon.
Overall, the Magellan Maestro 3140 GPS is a great unit with a ton of features including text-to-speech for under $200. If you want to read a more in-depth review, check it out here.
