I upgraded my rig with a MSI Geforce 7900GT video card ($250 after rebate) and a 500W ($70) power supply to power the new bad boy. The MSI Geforce 7900GT has 256 MB of memory, 500MHz core clock speed, 24 pixelPipelines, 2 DVI, and VIVO. The installation was quick and painless. The whole process took me less than 30 minutes to complete including driver installation and configuration.

To see if this was all worth the cost of a XBox 360, I popped in some of my older games, such as Sim City 4, with all the highest detail settings for some quick comparison and tests. My old games have never looked better. The new video card handled the old games without any problems, needless to say. Then I tested a newer game, a more demanding game, Age of Empires 3, with the highest detail settings. Again, everything looked great and the game play ran smoothly. Age of Empires 3 looks as good as XBox 360 games. In a way, I just transformed my computer (for the same cost) into a XBox 360 that plays awesome RTS and RPG games. I cannot wait to play Titan Quest, Neverwinter NIghts 2, and Rise of Legends on this new card.
