My old Sony universal remote required a ton of programming by learning IR commands, punching in product codes, and setting up macros manually. It was very time consuming and annoying. The aging remote did not include any codes and settings for my new devices such as Dish's receiver and my new Sony DVD player. I was forced to use three different remotes to run everything which defeated the whole purpose of owning a universal remote. Finally, I replaced my 6-7 years old Sony universal remote with Logitech Harmony Universal Remote for Xbox 360. Wow, what a difference!
Logitech Harmony Remote is set up and programmed via a computer using a USB cable which is much easier to manage. The user interface is friendly. The settings on Logitech Harmony Remote can be changed and customized quickly. The macros are set up using a wizard. Since everything is done via the computer, future device codes and settings can be updated via the Internet. I am now able to control everything using this one remote. The only regret I have is not getting this Logitech Harmony Remote sooner.
