Trendy and I recently signed a new 2 year contract with AT&T so we can get a good deal for two BlackBerry Curve 8310s. She got the red one and I opted for the titanium. This is my first BlackBerry. After only a couple of days of usage, I now understand why people also dubbed the device as a "CrackBerry."
The 8310 fits nicely in the hands. It may look big with a full size keyboard and a large screen; the device itself is actually fairly small. It feels smaller than my Nokia 6682 (which is a bit more thicker). One of the best features about the BlackBerry is its included BlackBerry(BB) Messenger. The BB Messenger allows the user to text message with any other BB owners for free as long as the user has the unlimited data plan. And if you want to text others without BBs for free, there's always Google Talk for BBs. These two text messengers are awesome economical SMS text replacements.
This BlackBerry also comes equipped with a 2.0 megapixel camera with flash. The camera itself is actually not too bad especially for a camera phone. Other standard features include bluetooth, push e-mail, voice dialing, and speakerphone. The 8310 also has built-in GPS. But AT&T is being greedy and wants to charge the user $10 device to use the GPS receiver.
Overall, I love the BlackBerry device. It is very easy to use and extremely fast for typing messages for e-mail or chat. The PUSH e-mail could be improved with a better IMAP service; however, it is still nice to have the ability to check e-mail automatically. If you want a truly functional device for texting and e-mailing, BlackBerry is the perfect device.
