LOTR: The Return of the King

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King video game by EA is one of the best movie to video game adaptations. The translation is flawless. The game uses actual footage from the movie as the cut scenes. Each level begins with a real footage and then seamlessly transforms into computer generated graphics to let the player take control. The transition is very smooth. I sometimes forget that it is my turn to take over.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is a classic hack-and-slash RPG with limited tweaking of character abilities.
All the main characters of the fellowship are playable. The game forces you to play with different characters to complete the game. Each character has different fighting styles and special abilities. The gameplay also varies depending on the character you are using.
When playing this game, you will definitely feel as if you were in the story/movie. Swarms of orcs sourround you as you fight your way through the level. Most of the time it seems quite chaotic as you button smash your way out of danger just like the characters of Middle Earth. Everytime you finish a level, you will unlock a featurette such as interviews with actors from the movie or other behind the scene videos.
The graphics of the game is very good. One complaint I have is the inability to control the camera angle which can sometimes be very badly positioned. This makes it really hard sometimes to fight all those orcs charging towards you. But you quickly learn how to deal with this issue and slash your way through the enemies even if you cannot see them or yourself.
Overall, this is definitely one of the best games not only for the fans of the movie or book. It is a very fun and entertaining game with awesome graphics and amazing sounds. This is a must play for all gamers!
