If you play chess at least a few times a year, you have probably heard of Chessmaster. It is one of the most popular and powerful chess software built for the general public. Most players prefer playing the game using a personal computer. I decided to try the XBox version for a few reasons: couch, big screen, XBox Live, and the $20 price tag.

Yes, A brand new copy of Chessmaster for XBox only costs $20. The game may be cheap, but there is nothing cheap about the game itself. The graphics are crisp. The chess engine is, as expected, very challenging. The XBox version includes many single player modes that will improve the skills of any chess player at any level. This game is great for both beginners and masters. There is a ton of tutorials for beginners and powerful tools for experts to utilize. If you get bored of playing against the computer, you can always jump online and test your skills against real people.

Chessmaster on the XBox is perfect for any person who wants to learn or play chess without using a PC. Playing Chessmaster against friends and family lounging on comfortable couches in front of a big screen TV beats hunching over a computer desk. For $20, you cannot even get a decent chess board and set, but you can get Chessmaster for your XBox.
