Santa Catalina Island is located 22 miles from the coast of Los Angeles. It takes about an hour and 45 minutes to get there by ferry from Marina Del Rey. The island itself is 22 miles long and 8 miles across. We visited the largest city on the island, Avalon.

One of my favorite places to visit of late is the marina mouth of Marina del Rey where all the boats enter or exit the Pacific ocean. Pelicans, seagulls, and others gather in large numbers in the area. I enjoy watching Pelicans take flight and glide just inches above the water, majestic and beautiful.
